Living Bridges serves  the needs of individuals facing life transitions, primarily those facing the end of life, as well as the needs of their families and caregivers with a special emphasis on their spiritual, emotional and psychosocial needs. Living Bridges seeks to inform and facilitate teachings on hospice and palliative care, life transitions and end of life care.

Life Transitions: Rites of Passage
The course objective is to help facilitate the passing of individuals in life crisis or stasis from one stage of life to the next, utilizing personal stories and mythos in a natural setting. This course is presented in a 2-3 day retreat, and will also be offered as a 6 day retreat.

Therapeutic Writing Workshop
The course objective is to engage in life review through legacy and memoir writing that assists with emotional flexibility integrating life transitions. This workshop is for persons dealing with a life limiting disease, as well as, for persons dealing with loss or a dying family member or friend. This is presented in 1-3 day sessions.

Bereavement Support for Family and Caregivers
The course objective is to facilitate the natural process of grieving for family and caregivers by providing education on grief and loss, as well as, providing resources for on-going support. This workshop is for family members, friends, caregivers of someone who is dying or has died. The work of this workshop is experiential.

Compassionate Communication
The course objective is to establish relationships based on empathy and honesty by utilizing specific communication skills and experiential learning.  This communication style offers a way to connect with others with intention.

The Practice of Living and Dying
The course objective is to promote more understanding about rites of passage within health care with particular attention given to understanding the place of ritual in end of life care. Lectures, seminars and outdoor training programs are offered by Meredith Little and Scott Eberle through The School of Lost Borders and are sponsored by Living Bridges Education.

Spirituality: Exploring the Metaphors of Life Transitions
This course is designed to recognize and harness the power of active metaphors in our lives. Metaphors are imaginative ways of connecting with our larger, spiritual selves, and as we go through life transitions, metaphors appear to guide us. All we need do is be aware of the metaphors we are sent, and our Spirit deepens, nourishes and grows in well being.

End of Life Care
Classes offered will include:

  • Education and instruction on caring for the patient at end of life including comfort care, signs and symptoms of the dying process, medication administration and hospice and palliative care.

Self Care
Recognizing the signs and symptoms of caregiver breakdown, self care and techniques for stress relief.
